Transportation Information bus garage picture

With the winter season coming upon us, please remind your children of the importance to keep all items in a zipped or closed bag when they get on or off the school bus. This helps so things do not get dropped in the process of loading or unloading the school bus.

I, more than most, understand the changes to a schedule, but we could always use your help to keep us informed well in advance. Phone calls when your child is not riding a bus is also very helpful, these can be made to the bus garage office or to either one of the schools.

Lastly, we would like to minimize the traffic in the bus circle at the high school. If you are bringing your child to school or picking them up during the hours of 7:00 am to 8:30 am or from 1:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. we ask that you drop them off in the school parking lot. During these times we would like to keep the bus circle for our school buses. As always at the elementary school the bus circle is designated only for school buses.

Notes from the Nurse Regarding Student Screening

New York State Education Law requires that students receive screenings (vision, hearing and scoliosis) provided by each public school district. These screenings will be completed in school if the information has not been included on the physical exam form submitted to the school by your child’s primary care provider.  Vision screening (for distance and near vision acuity) and Hearing screening will be required for all new students entering the district and students in grades Pre K or K, 1, 3 5, 7 and 11.  Scoliosis screening will be required in grades 5 and 7 for girls and grade 9 for boys.

The purpose of this requirement is to detect the presence of problems likely to impede a student’s learning.  We will be conducting these screenings for your student throughout the school year.  If the results of the screenings indicate that your child requires further follow-up, you will receive written notification.
