Middle/High School Community,

Reflecting on the first half of this school year, I am thrilled to have witnessed so many successes at the Middle/High School. Through focused efforts, we have continued to see progress towards our goal of improving student attendance along with wonderful achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. Highlights of this year so far include vibrant spirit weeks, National Honor Society inductions, the excitement of homecoming dances, the joy of holiday festivities, and more. These moments have brought our school community closer and created lasting memories. Looking ahead, we are excited to build on this momentum as we work to finish the 2024-2025 school year strong!

As we move toward the second half of the school year, we encourage students and families to stay on track and continue prioritizing academic success and regular attendance. The first semester concludes on Friday, January 24, and we are confident that with continued focus and effort, all our students can finish this school year strong. It will be June before we know it!

Looking even further ahead, we are in the beginning stages of building our schedule for the 2025-2026 school year. This process is essential in helping students select courses that align with their academic goals and future aspirations.

In the coming weeks, our school counselors will be visiting classrooms to guide students through the course selection process. During these visits, students will complete a course selection sheet for the 2025-2026 school year. This initial step is vital in identifying the courses that match each student’s interests and graduation requirements. For 8th-grade students, these visits will include the initial steps of building their 4-year academic plans for high school.

After the course selection sheets have been submitted, counselors will conduct individual follow-up meetings with students in grades 9-11. These meetings will include a review of student 4-year academic plans. For students in grades 10-11, these one-on-one sessions will be an opportunity to verify that course selections align with their 4-year plans and post-secondary goals while still moving towards high school graduation. Parents, please review your child’s course selection sheet, sign, and then return to the counseling office.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s course selections further, please do not hesitate to reach out to our counseling team or me directly. Your support and involvement are always appreciated. Whether it be your child’s current coursework or course selections for the coming school year, we look forward to hearing from you. We can be reached via phone at (315) 684-9121 or via email. Ms. Cesta, Counselor for Grades 10-12, can be reached at mcesta@m-ecs.org; Ms. Smith, Counselor for Grades 6-9, can be reached at csmith@m-ecs.org; and my email is nrauch@m-ecs.org.

Regards,
